3 Simple Nontoxic Ways to Freshen Your Home

3 simple (and nontoxic) ways to freshen your home

So, we’ve become aware about the nasty toxins in our food, personal care products and cleaners but have you thought about those air fresheners?  Whether they’re the plugins (that have phthalates) or the spray fresheners (which are even worse!), you may be doing more harm then good.  Don’t get us wrong, no one likes a stinky room, but there are way better ways to go about the freshness you desire.  Here are three, super simple ways to breathe freshness into your home!

Carpets

A sprinkle of RY’s Tub Scrub can go a super long way in freshening your carpets!  The baking soda absorbs odors while the fabulous fresh scent of our essential oil blend will safely & effectively leave your room smelling magical.  Sprinkle a thin layer, let it sit for up to 30 minutes and vacuum it up – simple as that!

White Vinegar

Using white vinegar is a great and easy way to freshen any room.  Simply pour about 1 cup of white vinegar into a bowl and place it in a safe place.  It will absorb odors and freshen the room for days.

Vodka

Another great, simple way to remove odors uses good ol’ vodka (no, you’re not supposed to drink it until the room doesn’t smell).  Pour some un-flavored vodka into a spray bottle & voila – instant air mister.  If you’d like, throw some Lavender or Sweet Orange essential oils into the bottle for a little somethin’ extra.

And last, but definitely not least, take advantage of throwin’ open those windows and working the nice breeze around.  Fresh air can do wonders for a stale room.
